I had a bunch of really bad symptoms summer last year and fodmap elimination helped a lot
It helped me greatly reduce reoccurring problems I was having for the past three years (also in summer) and seriously. Life changing for me, too.
thru lots of personal testing i've found a decent diet to keep me from being in too much pain, but the fun part is that stress is an omni-present trigger
FWIW i've also found Beano can take the edge off of small amounts of trigger foods like onions/garlic that are nearly impossible to avoid in foods you don't make yourself
